From Design to Delivery - How it works

Imperial has built an outstanding reputation for service and product excellence. We have full in-house design and manufacturing capability allowing optimization of time and elimination of errors and delays. Our team of dedicated engineers have an in-depth knowledge of connectors and partnering customers through the design to delivery process.

Whether it’s a modification of an existing part or a new design Imperial offer you solutions optimised on a mechanical, electrical and commercial basis specific to your brief.

First we take your brief and produce draft drawings and a costing for your review.

Upon your approval of the drafts we will carry out a full CAE analysis. This will take around 7 days and covers every aspect of the design and performance of component parts, contacts, insulators and the final component. This is time well spent resulting in a design that meets your specification and removes trial and error from the process. During this process, stamping tooling, plastics molds, test and production jigs will also be designed to eliminate delays later. Packaging specifications are also laid down prior to initial approval.

Mechanical

  • contact analysis

  • elastic-plastic analysis

  • strength analysis

  • fracture analysis

  • heat transfer analysis

  • vibration analysis

  • creep analysis

  • buckling analysis

  • thermal stress analysis

  • dynamic analysis

Mold Flow

  • filling and packaging analysis

  • prediction of melt advancement

  • pressure and temperature distribution analysis

  • melt/weld line analysis

  • air trap analysis

  • determination of gate location, number and size

  • runner balance, mold shrinkage and hesitation analysis

  • shear stress/strain analysis

  • cooling and warpage analysis

  • coolant channel layout

  • coolant flow rate/temperature estimations

  • warpage prediction

  • cooling time and mold temperature analysis

Electromagnetic

  • RLC extractions

  • inductance analysis

  • capacitance analysis

  • conductance analysis

  • characteristic impedance analysis

  • SPICE model

  • time domain analysis

  • impedance profiling

  • cross talk analysis

  • Propagation delay analysis

  • Rise time degradation analysis

Full drawings and specification are then provided for your review.

Upon your approval and agreement of final drawings & specification, (and along with the initial stage payment) we will produce the tooling. Tooling payment is usually made in agreed stages and would be refunded if the parts do not meet the agreed specification.

Our quality assurance and production departments would then produce a detailed quality and production procedures and guides for every stage of manufacture.

Samples would now be produced and rigorously tested to ensure full compliance with your specification and performance requirements. Upon successful completion of testing, samples will be submitted to you for approval. Upon your approval and your second stage payment we move into full production and approval of production parts.

The final stage payment becomes due on delivery of the initial production batch.

When full production begins the continual review process starts with our goal of total customer satisfaction.
